About Belukha Nature Park

Belukha Nature Park is located in the Altai Republic of Russia, encompassing a spectacular segment of the Altai Mountain range along the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan, China, and Mongolia. Created to protect the unique biodiversity and wilderness of this remote area, the park features soaring peaks, expansive glaciers, alpine meadows, and dense taiga forests. At its heart stands Mount Belukha, towering at 4,506 meters (14,783 feet), the tallest mountain in Siberia and a revered landmark for climbers and spiritual seekers alike. The region's ecology is rich, hosting rare species such as the snow leopard, Siberian ibex, and Altai argali, alongside a wide variety of alpine plants adapted to the cold climate and high elevation. Historically, the area has deep cultural significance for indigenous Altai peoples, who consider Mount Belukha sacred. Outdoor enthusiasts visit the park for its challenging mountaineering routes, extensive trekking trails, horseback riding, and wildlife observation opportunities. The park’s remoteness and pristine conditions appeal to adventurers seeking solitude and connection with nature. Visitors can explore glacial valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and ancient petroglyph sites, immersing themselves in one of Russia’s most spectacular wilderness areas. The park plays an important role in conserving fragile alpine ecosystems amid growing environmental pressures.
